PLA perks in Maoist kitty: Chemjong
DHANKUTA: Peace Minister Rakam Chemjong today said funds being released by the government for Maoist combatants were being "used" by the Maoist party.
Addressing a programme organised to lay the foundation stone of the Singhakali Secondary School in Dhankuta’s Ahale, the minister said the combatants had to be integrated first as per the Interim Constitution and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. The new constitution would be drafted only after the integration, he added.
"The main aspect of the peace process is the integration of the combatants. Then only will the peace process come to a conclusion." Stating that the government had dispatched disqualified combatants with a lot of effort, Chemjong claimed the Maoists were against integration. He accused the Maoists of trying to influence others to act in their favour. He said, "The salary of the combatants has become a reliable financial source for the Maoists."
Earlier, Chemjong laid foundation stone of Ahale VDC office and a building of Gramin Janata Secondary School in Bhedetar.
