Plot being hatched to make Constitution a failure: Gautam
RUPANDEHI: CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam claimed that efforts were afoot to make the Constitution a failure.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Rupandehi chapter of the Press Chautari Nepal, Gautam stated that the plots were being hatched to divide the Madhes and the hill in the name of Constitution amendment, adding that the party would not let such efforts get any success.
"Instead, the UML is ready to support a proposal that will unite all three regions," he said.
In a different context, UML leader Gautam accused the incumbent government of not carrying out efforts to hold local body elections while emphasising the need for holding three elections-- local, provincial and federal-- on time.
Speaking on the impeachment motion against suspended Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of the Authority Lok Man Singh Karki, Gautam said the parties had to propose the impeachment motion as Karki had tried to go against political parties breaching the Constitution.
"Political parties lost their faith in Karki as he tried to devise a plot against them," he added.
