PM asks CEC to make preparations for local elections
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav and discussed the issues related to fresh elections in local bodies on Monday.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister asked the Chief Election Commissioner to make necessary preparations for the elections, saying he was taking an initiative for the endorsement of election-related bills from the Parliament, according to the PM's press advisor Govinda Acharya.
While asking Yadav to make preparations without any confusion, Prime Minister Dahal told the Chief Election Commissioner the poll dates would be announced in a few days after holding consultations with major political forces.
In response, CEC Yadav asked the Prime Minister to enact the necessary laws to conduct elections. He further pointed out the need for 100 days after the announcement of poll date, according to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
