PM assures of rail route change to prevent displacement of Dhanusha households

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he would take an initiative to alter the Jayanagar-Janakpur railway route along the Bijulpura-Bardibas section.

PM Dahal said this in response to the concern expressed by an all-party delegation from Dhanusha district.

The delegation led by a lawmaker of Dhanusha Constituency No 7, Shatrudhan Mahato, submitted a memorandum to the PM, drawing his attention towards potential displacement of 400 households of Ward N0 8 and 9 of Mithila Municipality, if the railway was expanded as per the notice issued by the Railway Department of Jaynagar-Janakpur-Bijulpura-Bardibas section on December 22.

"The existing settlements will be displaced while expanding the railway service, so alternative would be searched," PM Dahal said.

"I will hold discussion with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport and Railway Department, and take initiative to resolve the problem even by coordinating with Indian Railway Department if necessary."
