PM Deuba and Dahal forge consensus to hold talks with RJP-N

KAHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has forged a consensus to hold talks with the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal in a bid to bring them on board for the second round of local polls on June 28.

PM Deuba held a meeting with the former PM Puspa Kamal Dahal at latter's residence in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, this evening.

During the meeting both the leaders also forged consensus to hold the local level elections on the stipulated date. On the occasion the leaders also talked about the Cabinet expansion and second round of local polls.

Likewise, the leaders also agreed to initiate the process of talks with the agitating Rastriya Janta Party Nepal.

RJP-N has announced not to take part in the second round of local polls in Province number 1, 2, 5 and 7 for selecting local representatives on local bodies on June 28.

Agitating RJP-N has warned to disrupt and foil the local polls in the Terai region if their demands are not heeded.  Recently, they have announced various protest programmes in the region prior to the second round of local level election.

RJP-N has been demanding increase in the local bodies in the Terai region, constitution amendment and withdrawal of fake cases against their cadres.

Earlier, the first round of local polls were held in Province number 3, 4 and 6 for selecting local representatives in local bodies in 34 districts on May 14.
