KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 29

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended hearty best wishes to all Nepalis in the country and abroad who are celebrating the religious and culturally significant Jitiya festival, today.

In a message on the occasion of the Jitiya festival, PM Deuba said this festival observed in the Tarai region has been established as a celebration symbolising Nepal's distinct identity. "Our culture and rituals have their own special characteristics of identity. The Jitiya festival is also one of those festivals promoting goodwill and unity. I believe this festival will deepen the love, compassion and dedication between all the mothers and their offspring," the PM said.

He further said the Government of Nepal is committed to preserving and promoting the festivals, internalizing the special significance of these festivals including the Jitiya festival.

He also urged one and all observing the Jitiya festival to celebrate it fostering unity, and with joy and fervour.
