PM directs UML lawmakers to defend government’s programmes

Kathmandu, May 8

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today directed all the lawmakers of his party to defend the government’s policy and programme presented by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari at the parliament yesterday.

PM Oli directed the lawmakers today during a meeting of the CPN-UML parliamentary party.

According to lawmaker Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, during the meeting, former vice-chairman of National Planning Commission Dinesh Devkota discussed the spirit of the government’s policy and programmes.

However, the major coalition partner Unified CPN-Maoist parliamentary party meeting held here today decided to protest the policy and programmes of the government for not consulting with the coalition partner.

Lawmaker Rupa Maharjan said all the lawmakers speaking today opposed the policy and programmes of the government.

She said the lawmakers accused the UCPN-M ministers of failing to incorporate the issues raised by the nine-point agreement signed between the UCPN-M and PM Oli, while ministers claimed that they were not well-informed about the issues because the UML brought it to discussion only after printing the document.
