PM for consensus on VP's oath row
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepalon Tuesday told the parliament that the issue related to the language used by Vice President Paramanda Jha's during oath taking should be solved through consensus.
The House, which was stalled by UCPN-Maoist for the last three days, resumed its business today after the prime minister clarified that no agreement regarding weapon purchase had been made during Defence Minister Bidhyadevi Bhandari's recent India visit.
"In her six-day formal visit, Minister Bhandari met with Indian Defence Minister and discussed matters of bilateral welfare. She also called on Indian Foreign Minister and opposition party leader Lal Krishna Advani," he said. He also reiterated the government's firm commitment to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
The PM informed the House that YCL central member Laxman Raya Yadav was reportedly killed by a group led by Arun Yadav of Tarai Liberation Front on July 25 in Rautahat. He said the police were searching the guilty and the bereaved family would be provided relief. He said late Yadav would be declared a martyr after following a procedure.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister had met with NC President Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj.
