PM has lost his way: Koirala

Baitadi, December 6:

President of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said all democratic forces should unite against the Maoist dictatorship.

Saying that the Maoist atrocities are still continuing, he said the Maoists were violating all the understandings and agreements with the other parties and heading towards a totalitarian system.

Speaking at a mass meet organised by the Nepali Congress in connection with the awareness campaign in Kanchanpur’s Bhimduttanagar today, Koirala said the Maoists would have to return to jungle if the situation did not improve. Blaming the Maoists for trying to impose the same old autocratic system, he said, “Prachanda has lost the way. He is cutting down the trees on which he is sitting.” He reiterated that he would never compromise with anyone against the nation and democracy. He said the time of partnership had ended following the blunder made by PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. He told Prachanda to abide by the past agreements and understandings.

Koirala said he had proposed a medical college and university in the far-west. Admitting that there was no emotional unity in his party, he said he was on a nationwide visit for unity.

Senior NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, central member Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Gyanendra Karki, Ramesh Lekhak, Gagan Thapa also spoke on the occasion.
