PM incompetent, says Jana Morcha lawmaker

Kathmandu, April 15:

Lawmaker from Jana Morcha Nepal, Lila Mani Pokhrel, told the parliament today that PM Girija Prasad Koirala has proved “incompetent.”

Maoist lawmaker today said personnel of the People’s Liberation Army, who are in cantonments, and ex-servicemen of the government security forces could be deployed during the constituent assembly polls.

“If the government is having difficulties in conducting the election by June 20, our army and ex-servicemen of government security agencies can be used for holding the constituent assembly election,” Suresh Ale Magar told Parliament during special hour.

He said the Election Commission cannot say that it cannot hold the elections. “If the Election Commission says that, the election officials should be changed,” Ale Magar said.

He said a republican set-up should be declared from the House if the election cannot be held as scheduled.

Lawmaker Ram Chandra Tiwari said all parties should share the responsibility for the failure in holding the polls on time. Another Maoist MP, Khim Lal Devkota, criticised a remark made by NC-D president Sher Bahadur Deuba welcoming the EC’s announcement that polls were not possible in June. Also today, the Parliament passed the draft regulations of the woman lawmakers’ group, while the government tabled a proposal to discuss the National Academy Bill and the National Academy of Arts.
