PM, Nepal’s Chhath wishes

Kathmandu, October 28:

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has extended hearty greetings to all the Nepalis on the occasion of the Chhath festival, wishing them happiness, peace and prosperity. In a message of felicitations given today, PM Koirala said the Chhath festival celebrated only in Terai in the past is being celebrated with equal devotion and respect in many places of the hilly region and that it is an example of religious liberality, social goodwill and cultural harmony. The PM in the message said that we all have a common responsibility of building a new and prosperous Nepal by establishing sustainable peace in the country and wished that this sacred day give inspiration for this to all of us.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal said the Chhath Festivel celebrated in Terai region which is enriched with cultural diversity has its own peculiar features and fundaments. In a greeting message on the occasion of the Chhath, Nepal wished the festival may inspire all to work for the consolidation of democracy, restoration of lasting peace and progressive political transformation on the occasion. Chhath is the festival of truth, non-violence and benevolence.

It has played a crucial role to enhance brotherhood, friendship, fraternity and social harmony, the message read.
