PM Oli against socialism, says Nepal

SIRAHA, JANUARY 9

Former prime minister and Nepal Communist Party (Dahal-Nepal faction) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal today said the country could not achieve the goal of socialism under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Addressing the 31st Memorial Day of farmer leader Jay Govind Sah at Bastipur of Karjanha Municipality in Siraha, the former prime minister said as Prime Minister Oli had embraced capitalism, the country would not be able to accomplish the goals of socialism under his leadership.

Nepal flayed Oli and said the latter had tried to impose autocratic system inside the Communist party. He accused Oli of renouncing the Communist principle. “Communists believe in socialism. But, Oli is an autocrat and is trying to run the party according to his will,” he added. Nepal charged that Oli was hell-bent on finishing off democratic republicanism.

“Oli is working to restore monarchy and the king. He was against republicanism then, and he is against the system now,” Nepal alleged.

Nepal said PM Oli had become an acting prime minister.

“He dissolves the Parliament and claims to be a PM with two-thirds majority, which is a sham,” Nepal added.

Nepal said his party had taken disciplinary action against Oli and removed him as the party’s chair as he had worked against party’s interests and objectives. Nepal said that Oli was ego-centric and arrogant.

He viewed the dissolution of the House of Representatives as unconstitutional and undemocratic and demanded restoration of the Parliament.
