PM Oli stresses prompt implementation of constitution

LALITPUR: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the immediate and effective implementation of the new constitution.

Addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of late Nepali Congress (NC) leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai here on Wednesday, PM Oli said the time had come for all political parties to be united and implement the constitution effectively, leading the country towards development.

"There is no option for the political parties but to rise above party interests and take confidence of people to build nation," PM said, arguing that government was striving for consolidating democracy and accelerate development activities.

The diplomatic channel has put efforts to clear the unofficial blockade imposed by India for more than three months that has enfeebled nation's economy, said PM.

On different note, Oli said that the late NC leader was the stalwart democrat devoting his entire life for the sake of the nation.

On the occasion, senior NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the late leader Bhattarai was successful in the political history of Nepal. Further, Deuba reminded that Nepal had commenced new constitution in six months in 1990 under the leadership of Bhattarai.

Chairman of the Late Krishna Prasad Bhattarai Shelter Foundation, PL Singh, said the country would catch a way to progress once the political parties adhered to the late leader Bhattarai's precepts.

PM Oli also unveiled the statue of late leader Bhattarai during the programme.
