The incident came into light when the broken lock was noticed on Monday morning, during office opening time. It has been learnt that only the cash was found missing; nothing else seemed out of place.

He said, some weaknesses were noticed on the part of the cooperative, such as the office being operated from within a small shutter, lack of CCTV camera in the office, the cash being left inside a drawer, and the cooperative remaining open till 7:30 in the evening, two and a half hours later than closing time.

He added that police were looking into the footage from CCTV placed on the roads to try and find the person(s) involved in the theft.
