Pokhara HC tells police to produce CPN cadres

Pokhara, June 11

Pokhara High Court has ordered the police to produce nine cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN, who were arrested earlier, at the court.

According to court Registrar Jitendrababu Thapaliya, a single bench of Judge Jagat Prasad Shrestha ordered the police to produce nine of the 18 Chand-led party cadres at the court by 11:00 pm on Thursday.

The court had issued the order after a preliminary hearing on a habeas corpus writ, identifying Kaski District Court and District Police Office as defendants.

Last Saturday, police had arrested 18 cadres of the Chand-led group from Uri in Annapurna Rural Municipality, Kaski. Of them, Janga Bahadur Bhandari, Prakash Bastola, Gagan Pariyar, Sujan Sapkota, Santosh BK, Kaji Gurung, Astha Nepali, Rajan Saud and Milan Rai were in police custody after the district court remanded them to judicial custody for investigation.

They will now be produced at the court, as per the High Court’s order.
