Police alerted to foil Honeypreet’s bid to sneak into Nepal

Kathmandu, September 10

Nepal Police along the bordering areas of India has been alerted at the request of Indian authorities to restrict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s adopted daughter, Honeypreet Insan, from sneaking into Nepal.

Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation Court for raping two of his disciples, while Haryana police has issued a lookout notice against Honeypreet, fearing she may flee the country.  She has been charged with sedition, instigating violence and conspiring to attempt to free Ram Rahim, according to PTI.

According to security sources, Indian police shared information, as well as photographs of Honeypreet, with Nepal Police along the bordering areas, including Kailali, Kanchanpur, Kapilvastu, Banke, Bardiya and Rupandehi.

Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Manoj Neupane and CIB Chief DIG Puskar Karki said they didn’t have any information regarding the issue.

Press Trust of India reported that police stations of Kapilvastu, Mohana, Shohratgarh, Debarua, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur and Bahraich districts bordering Nepal have been alerted.

Superintendent of Police, Siddharth Nagar, Satyendra Kumar has been quoted by the agency as saying that Honeypreet’s photographs are pasted at these police stations.

Honeypreet, who is in her thirties, is an adopted daughter of Gurpreet Ram Rahim Singh, whose conviction in a rape case triggered mob violence that killed around 40 people across Haryana, PTI

reported.

The agency added that she had accompanied the Dera head when he was brought to the special CBI Court in Panchkula for pronouncement of the verdict in the 15-year-old rape case.

The police initiated efforts to trace Honeypreet, who describes herself as ‘Papa’s angel’, after it arrested and interrogated another sect functionary, Surinder Dhiman Insan, in connection with an alleged conspiracy to help Ram Rahim escape after his conviction by a special CBI court in Panchkula, Haryana, on August 25, the report added.
