Police arrest two CPN cadres

Kavre, March 20

A police team deployed from Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Division arrested two cadres of Netra Bikram chand-led Communist Party of Nepal from Kafaldanda of Khaharepangu at Roshi Rural Municipality, Kavre last night.

Information Officer SP Somendrasingh Rathaur at Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Division said that the police team had opened four rounds of fire in self-defence when Chand’s cadres fired  at the team.

Police arrested Shiv Dhital, 33, and Bishal Tamang, 33, of Jhapa and Sindhuplachowk respectively.

Police have seized nine sets of mobile phones, four sets of chargers, a laptop, a black leather bag and some documents from them. Both the arrested were made public today.

Kavre CDO Krishna Bahadur Raut said that normalcy had returned at Kafaldanda after last night.

Acting on a tip-off that Chand’s activists had increased their activities, a police team had been deployed from the metropolitan crime division to Kafaldanda.

After the government banned the Chand-led party, police have increased surveillance on the party and its activities across the country.
