KATHMANDU: A police constable shot himself in Shyampati of Kavre district on Saturday.

According to Inspector Bidur Thapa of the District Police Office, Kavre, Jagat Baitha, stationed at Shyampati Police Post, shot himself in the leg when he was on duty.

The incident took place at around 4:30 am, he added.

Critically injured in the incident, Baitha (30), a permanent resident of Pokhariya Municipality-1, Parsa district, is receiving treatment at the Dhulikhel Hospital in the district.

Police suspect that he might have shot himself due to family problems.
