Khotang, December 20

Police have destroyed marijuana plants cultivated in several VDCs of Khotang district in the past one month.

The locals had cultivated marijuana plants in hundreds of ropanis of land for commercial purposes. A police team deployed from District Police Office, Khotang led by inspector Saroj Rai had reached the site and destroyed the marijuana plants.

The police team had destroyed the marijuana plants cultivated in 437 ropanis in eight different VDCs of the district.

The police team had started destroying marijuana plants from the first week of November and had destroyed the plants at Durchhim, Mahadevsthan, Dhitung, Dikuwa, Badahare, Bahunidanda, Mangaltar, Chamsitar, among other VDCs, of the district.

Meanwhile, Khotang Police Chief Bidhyananda Majhi said the police team deployed from DPO had taken help from the Area Police Office, Haleshi and police posts of respective VDCs.

Majhi further informed that the police have been destroying marijuana plantation in other villages.
