Police HQ forms probe panels
Kathmandu, October 18:
The Police Headquarters today formed two separate probe committees to find out the facts regarding the death of Manoj Das at Janasewa Ward Police Office and alleged involvement of police constable in a shooting case in Birjung.
A three-member panel headed by SSP Shusilbar Singh Thapa and comprising SP Rajendra Man Shrestha and DSP Madhab Basnet would probe into the death of Das, who died while being brought to the BIr Hospital. The committee has been asked to submit its report as soon as possible. Likewise, another team has been formed to find out the facts about the alleged involvement of police constable Suresh Yadav in a shooting case in Birjung.
Meanwhile, forensic section of the TU Teaching Hospital today sent the post-mortem report of Manoj Das, who was caught on looting charges, to the Kathmandu District Police Office (KDPO), Hanumandhoka.
“The report says Das had no serious heart disease and might have died due to police beating,” a police official at the KDPO said.
