Police make Biplav-led CPN district secy public

BHOJPUR: Police today made a cadre of Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) public after arresting him with weapons on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a special police team deployed from the DPO, apprehended Biplav-led CPN party district secretary Bam Bahadur Bista from Bhasepakha of Bhojpur Municipality-10 around 1:30 pm on Sunday, according to DPO Chief and DSP Nur Bahadur Salami Magar.

"During a routine security check, police intervened Bista in suspicion and recovered arms and explosives from his backpack," DSP Magar shared. Police also seized two Italian-made automatic pistols, bullets, hand grenade, two mobile sets, and SIM card.

Police presented Bista before the District Court today itself and remanded him in custody for seven days for further investigation, DSP Magar shared.

Meanwhile, police are preparing to file a case under the Arms and Ammunition Act, 2019.

Following an absolute ban on the activities of Biplav-led CPN, key leaders of the party’s standing committee and other cadres have been arrested from across the nation of late.
