Police post established

Phidim, October 2:

The Panchthar district administration office has established a police post at Sinhapur bazaar today following the incident of looting on Thursday night.

An armed gang claiming to be the cadres of Kirant Rajya Mukti Sena had looted property, including cash worth Rs 10 lakh, gold, mobile sets, CDMA phones, cassettes, radio and watches, from shops and a truck at Sinhapur bazaar on Thursday evening.

Locals, demanding security, have closed educational institutions, markets and transport from Saturday.

A security meeting held today decided to establish a police post with the team of six policemen led by an assistant sub inspector at Sinhapur bazaar, chief district officer Hari Krishna Upadhayaya said, adding the policemen have been deployed there.
