ILAM: A police post has been established in Chisapani VDC in Ilam district aiming to control smuggling and provide security to the locals.

The District Security Coordination Committee decided to establish the police post after the local residents provided land and money to build the police post.

The people in the VDC, who trek for some four hours to reach the district headquarters, expressed that they were feeling insecure in absence of a security post. The local residents said that smuggling of wood is rampant from the region.

Chief district officer Bishnu Bahadur Karki inaugurated the police post amid a function. On the occasion, Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Ranabhat said that the people now would feel secure.

A team of five police personnel would be stationed in the newly-established police post.
