Police posts lack communication facility in far-west region

Dipayal, February 3:

Though the displaced police posts in the Far Western Development Region were reinstated over a year ago, 56 posts based in rural areas here have been lacking communication facility.

Due to the lack of telephone services, police personnel stationed in rural areas are forced to walk hours to convey their message to the district headquarters and regional offices. Communication sets are only available at the posts based in the district headquarters and adjoining areas.

“We are forced to walk hours to convey important messages to district headquarters due to the lack of communication service,” assistant sub-inspector at the BP Nagar Police Post in Doti, Surendra Kumar Pant, said.

“Nineteen Village Development Committees in Doti, having four police posts, lack telephone service,” DSP at the Doti District Police Office, Dilliraj Pant, said, adding: “The police posts based in remote areas also lack good buildings and vehicles beside communication sets.”

“We have been facing difficulty to avail of information of police posts in rural areas as they lack communication service,” DSP at the Far Western Regional Police Office, Rabindra Dhanuk, said, adding that the regional police office has urged the central office to provide communication sets to the police posts located in rural areas.
