Police remove clips attached to 'Rudraksha' seeds in Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: Police have removed plastic clips attached to the "Rudraksha" seeds growing on trees in the eastern region of Bhojpur district.

Contractors and traders buy Rudraksha yards and use artificial method to mould the shape of the seeds, regarded as prayer beads in Hinduism.

Acting on a directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs to stop the artificial method of moulding the seeds, police deployed from Bhojpur District Police Office removed the clips from the seeds in various yards in Shadananda Municipality in the district.

Inspector Pandav Rajbanshi at the DPO said 600 clips were removed from the Rudraksha yard belonging to Pitambar Lamsal in Keurenipani and 225 clips from the yard belonging to Gyanendra Basnet in Salma.

The artificial shape and form of the prayer beads from Nepal could create negative image of the country in the international market, the DPO asserted.
