Police team to probe firing at NC leaders
Biratnagar, February 12:
The police today formed a four-member team to investigate the recent incident of policemen shooting at the Nepali Congress’ Morang district president Amrit Aryal and the NC city president Kamakshya Parajuli. The team — comprising inspectors Shamsher Rai, Bhaktapur Bahadur Shrestha and sub-inspector Raju Shrestha — is headed by Morang district deputy superintendent of police, Rabindra Prasad Sharma.
Aryal had demanded a fair probe into the incident and action against the guilty. A delegation of the Nepali Congress Morang today went to meet the chief district officer of Morang, Narendra Dahal, to demand that a probe committee be set up.
The Chief District Officer said the administration was attuned to the incident and that a probe into it would soon begin. He said the police investigation team would begin the investigation tomorrow.
Aryal and Parajuli had a close shave on February 4 when the police opened fired at them at Sansarimai. Both had escaped unscathed.
