Police yet to nab suspects in Shah’s alleged murder

Rukum, January 26

Police have yet to nab the ‘murderers’ of Sushmita Shah (18) though more than a week has elapsed since she was killed in Kholagaun, Rukum.

The body of the deceased was found hanging from a tree on January 18.

Inter-party Women Network, Rukum has accused the local administration of not investigating the incident properly.

It has piled pressure on the administration to investigate the incident, saying Shah was murdered under mysterious circumstances.

As per the report prepared by the network, Shah was murdered after being raped. Officials of the network complained that the villagers were not cooperating with the investigations.

Chairperson of the network Devi Oli said it police had not been able to nab the perpetrators even as they reached the site just an hour after the incident.

Although police had arrested five local youths for investigation, they were released on January 25.

“We believe that the local know the murderers, but they have refused to cooperate. This has created problems in our investigations,” lamented Rukum DSP Rupesh Khadka.
