Poll date to be fixed within a week: Adhikari

Biratnagar, December 20:

Standing committee member of the CPN-UML Bharat Mohan Adhikari said today that the date

for CA polls will be announced by December-end if the Maoists have no objection. He said the

Election Commission will be directed to make preparations for the polls thereafter.

Speaking at a press meet organised by the Morang chapter of the Press Chautari Nepal, Adhikari said, “If all goes well, the polls will be held by the end of 2064 BS.”

“There was no improvement towards ending the political deadlock as the Maoists were absent in the meeting of seven parties yesterday,” he said. He warned that the nation will suffer “an irreparable loss” if the polls are not held on time. He said the roundtable conference, as proposed by Maoists, will not draw any conclusion.

Tarai crisis aggravated because the agreements reached with Madhesi leaders were not implemented, he said and called for timely resolution of Madhes problems.
