Poll fever grips Okhaldhunga

Okhaldhunga, March 21

Leaders of various political parties have started extensive internal discussion on their election agenda while contesting the local level polls slated for May 14 in Okhaldhunga of late. They have also started lobbying for candidacy in the elections.

NC District Working Committee held the rural municipality level meeting to prepare for elections on March 15, said the party’s district Vice-President Tejendra Khanal. He said they were preparing for election as per the new structures.

“Various activities have been launched in the state organs to ensure effective service delivery. We have been rural municipality and municipality-centred of late,” said Siddhicharan Municipality Coordinator of Nepali Congress Dan Bahadur Baniya.

CPN-UML District Committee Secretary Shankar Katwal said that they would intensify various activities of the party as per the new structures after the party’s meeting tomorrow.

Likewise, CPN-Maoist Centre has also expedited its party activities focusing on the upcoming election of the local levels. They held a district committee meeting at Champadevi Rural Municipality’s Fulbari Ghorabari today according to district Vice-chairperson Nishant Sharma. Other parties have also been launching their programmes in the local areas intending to influence their voters.

Meanwhile, District Election Office Okhaldhunga said that as 13 parties have been registered at the office all the forces would take part in the elections.
