Polls historic, says EC chief

CHAUTARI: Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav said the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections would be historic.

He also urged voters to exercise their franchise without any fear, as there would be strong security arrangement. CEC Yadav was speaking at a press conference in Sindhupalchowk on Tuesday.

He also informed that of the total 67 types of election materials, some have been sent to the respective districts, and the rest would be dispatched soon.

Earlier the same day, Yadav inspected election materials at the district election office and the office of chief returning officer. He directed chiefs of the offices of the district administration office and chiefs of security agencies to make the elections peaceful, and launch a crackdown on incidents of violation of the election code of conduct.

A total of 144 polling centres and 185 polling stations have been established for the district. Thirty-one polling centres have been marked as sensitive.
