Polls without major parties impossible: RPP leader

Pokhara, November 1:

Surya KC, the Central member of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has ruled out the possibility of elections without participation of major political parties.

He said this while addressing a programme organised in memory of late Chhetra Bahadur KC, the then Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kaski unit chairman, who was killed by the Maoists some five months ago.

“RPP is always with the Nepali people,” he said, adding, “If the Rastriya Prajatantra Party participates in the elections with other small parties, most probably the party will win more seats but this cannot be considered as a real victory.”

Participating elections without involvement of major political parties will never do good to the nation and this cannot be called the people’s mandate, KC said.

Elections at the time of crisis won’t bring good impact in the country, he said. He criticised some of his party leaders for trying to mislead the party on the path of autocratic Panchayati system.

“As our party respects the Constitution of Nepal 1990, established from the people’s popular movement, how can we go against its spirit,” the central member added. “Our party cadres will visit every village across the country and aware the people about the superiority of the present constitution and collect people’s support to protect it,” KC further said.
