Power-cuts not to exceed 12 hours a day
PYUTHAN: State Minister for Energy Chandra Singh Bhattarai today said the power-cuts would not exceed 12 hours a day and the government was trying all possible ways to ensure that.
The government will import 60 megawatt electricity from India soon, he added. Addressing a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union-Pyuthan in Bijuwar, Bhattarai, however, opined power outage hours might increase if more power was not imported from India.
Bhattarai claimed that the country would be free of power cut within three years, though. He added,’’ We are going to confiscate the electricity license taken by the water mafias and take action against them.’’
Bhattarai said that the issue
of federalism was a serious matter that needed enough preparations. Answering a query of media-
persons Bhandari said, “Nepali Congress is in favour of forming a commission to decide the issue of federalism.’’
Stating that the dispute among Nepali Congress leaders was on the rise as senior leaders were being bypassed, he added,’’ The disputes will be settled after the convention of the party.’’ Bhattarai had inspected the Nepal Electricity Authority Pyuthan office prior to the press meet.
