Prachanda flays UML manifesto

Jhapa, March 25:

Maoist chairman Prachanda today said the poll manifestos of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML offer nothing new.

Addressing a gathering in Birtamod today, he said the Maoist manifesto is the only one that addresses the people’s aspirations.

“Our party stands for presidential system while UML and NC advocate prime ministerial system, which was dumped by Britain on India. There is something new only in our proposal,” Prachanda said.

He said the NC and UML had panicked when his party proclaimed him as Nepal’s future president.

“They may opt for self-exile if I am really elected a president,” he said.

Deuba’s stand

Dhangadhi: Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said if need be army could be mobilised for the CA polls. “The Nepal Army was mobilised in past elections and it may be mobilised for CA polls also,” Deuba told journalists here on Tuesday. Deuba, who was here on way to Dedeldhura, said: “In the present context when security is not adequate, mobilisation of Nepal Army may help.” — HNS
