Prachanda rules out timely statute under UML-led govt

NAWALPARASI: Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today expressed doubt about the timely drafting of the new statute under the present coalition government.

Speaking at an inaugural function of National Tharu Festival, Prachanda claimed the statute could be drafted within the stipulated time frame and there would be sustainable peace in the country only if a government under their leadership was formed.

He also opined that the country was brimming with trouble due to lack of consensus among the political parties.

Pointing out the need for progressive change in the country, he said, "The process of change is being delayed due to apathy of other political parties." Prachanda further said, "I am hopeful that the country will get a solution after we get the report of the High-Level Political Mechanism."
