Prachanda’s change-govt plea blasted
Phidim, November 18:
A central member of the Nepali Congress today objected to a recent remark coming from Maoist chairman Prachanda, in which he had said that the government and the parliament should be toppled through a street movement if a political resolution is not worked out by November 22.
Speaking at a press conference here, Dr Shekhar Koirala claimed that no change is possible in the country until the Nepali Congress wants it.
He claimed that proposals seeking the formation of a republic and adoption of a full proportional representation system of elections are against the spirit of the interim constitution.
“The NC will not opt for the declaration of a republic from the parliament and not adopt a fully proportional representation system of polls by crushing the rights of the people.”
