Pradeep Gyawali off to New Delhi as UML Chair Oli's special envoy

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML on Tuesday sent a senior leader of the party to New Delhi as the party Chairman KP Sharma Oli's special envoy on the eve of promulgation of new constitution in Nepal.

"Secretary Pradeep Gyawali is on the visit to garner goodwill for the ongoing process of constitution making from the Indian leadership, government and people," said Krishna Gopal Shrestha, the secretary at the party's central office.

During his stay in New Delhi, the CPN-UML chairman's representative is scheduled to meet various leaders and senior people in the Indian government.

It has been learned that he will meet India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Minister and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval tomorrow.

Gyawali is scheduled to return to Kathmanu on Friday, September 18.

Taking into consideration the understanding between the two major parties, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, Oli has been taken for the strongest candidate for the prime ministerial berth in the wake of promulgation of new constitution.

As per the provisions in the new charter, the transformed Legislature-Parliament will have to hold fresh elections of President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

The House will elect new executive head within a week of the commencement of new constitution.
