Mahat flying to Thailand for ACD Summit Friday

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat would leave for Thailand to participate in the 2nd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in Bangkok.

In the Summit, three milestone documents—namely Bangkok Declaration, ACD Vision for Asia Cooperation 2030 (ACD Vision 2030) and ACD Statement on Reigniting Growth through Partnership for Connectivity—would be considered and adopted.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Mahat is scheduled to attend ACD Foreign Ministers’ Working Dinner on October 8, ACD Connect Business Forum 2016: Innovative Financial Connectivity for a Sustainable Asia on October 9 and the Summit on October 10 with other leaders (heads of state/government) of 34 ACD member states.

Nepal had recently joined the Dialogue as its 34th member in March 2016.

The Mahat-led Nepali delegation comprises Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Thailand Khagnath Adhikari, Joint Secretary of the MoFA Mani Prasad Bhattarai and other officials from Embassy of Nepal in Thailand.

Minister Mahat is scheduled to return home on October 11.
