Minister Mahat meets Sushma Swaraj in Delhi

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat held a meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in Delhi on Monday.

During the meeting, the duo discussed agendas of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s upcoming India visit and preparations held for it.

"Both the Ministers held wide ranging talks on 12 September 2016 on issues of mutual interest, and covering the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including the upcoming high-level exchanges between the two countries," the Indian Ministry of External Affairs informed in a statement after the meeting.

"Both sides reiterated their commitment to further strengthen and deepen age-old, close and friendly ties in diverse sectors such as trade and mutual investments, defense and security, economic and development partnership, infrastructure development, energy and water resources, and forging connectivities to facilitate movement of goods and services, people and ideas," the statement added.

Minister Mahat had left for Delhi on Sunday.

He is likely to hold meetings with other Indian ministers and leaders today itself.

The Foreign Minister is accompanied by the Ministry’s Joint-Secretary Bhrigu Dhungana.

He is scheduled to return home on Tuesday.

PM's Dahal's schedule announced

Meanwhile, the Indian MEA also announced PM Dahal's visit schedule today.

According to another statement Dahal would hold talks with Indian PM Narendra Modi on September 16. He would also call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and other Indian ministers.

"The visit of the PM of Nepal will provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern, as well as seek ways to strengthen the age old, close and friendly ties between the two countries in diverse sectors."
