Premier to skip HLPM meetings: Gachhadar
BIRATNAGAR: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Planning and Works Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar today said Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal would not participate in the meeting of the High Level Political Mechanism. Talking to mediapersons at Biratnagar airport, Gachhadar said, ‘’The PM did not attend today’s HLPM meeting and will perhaps not attend those in the future.’’
Claiming that the mechanism would be meaningless without the representation of the Prime Minister, he said, ‘’The mechanism without the chief executive is worthless and incomplete.’’ Gachhadar opined that there should be inclusion of Madhes-based parties in the mechanism in order to make it significant. Countering the remark of DPM Sujata Koirala, Gachhadar said there was no possibility of changing the government now. “The remark of the person, who has no contribution to the formation of the present coalition, does not hold much meaning,” he said, claiming that Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala had been supporting the government fully. ‘’I want to assure all that this government will draft the new constitution.’’
Separately, in Sunsari’s Inaruwa, DPM Gachhadar accused the HLPM of being a platform for hatching conspiracies. He invited the UCPN-Maoist to join the present government, adding that the the present government was necessary for the rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants, to take the peace process to a logical end and to draft the statute within the stipulated time.
The DPM laid the foundation stone of a building for Shyamsundar Mehata Primary School, to be constructed in the name of martyrs Shyamsundar and Hari Mehata, in Babiya-8 today.
