President inaugurates mahayagya

Dharan, February 9

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the Shreeram Tarakbramha Mahayagya in Chataradham of Sunsari district today. She said such religious events were a matter of pride for the country.

Themahayagya is being held for the first time in Nepal and after 705 years in the world, according to the organiser.

The president said Chataradham was one of the most popular religious destinations in the country and added that the area could be developed as a medicinal herbs processing hub.

President Bhandari also inaugurated the newly constructed shelter home. The building has 128 rooms with state of the arts facilities.

President Bhandari also offered pooja. Speaking at the same programme, Province 1 Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai pledged to developing the area as a religious destination.

Tarakbramha Mahayagya, according to Hindu scriptures, is a ritual wherein offerings are made to the fire by chanting Tarakbrahma mantra. The smokes produced from the offering help make the atmosphere clean by blocking harmful rays from the sun, said Mahayogi Krishna Das Maharaj of Ramananda Sewa Peeth.

For the Mahayagya, an 11 storied-artistic structure has been set at Sriramanda Sewapeeth Hanuman temple in Chatara with the help of the Jagatguru Srimanandacharya Sewpeeth Nepal and the organiser Mahayogi Siddha Adhyatmik Pratisthan.
