KATHMANDU: A cabinet meeting of Province 3 today has appointed senior journalist Rewati Sapkota as the province's press registrar.

Sapkota, who hails from Sindhupalchok district and holds a postgraduate degree, has been working in the sector of journalism for over 20 years. He has been involved in various media houses including The Himalayan Times.

The appointed press registrar would take responsibility under the Provincial Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law.

Moreover, Sapkota will be administering and regulating media under the guidance of the Ministry.

Other tasks he would be responsible for include developing policies and preparing budgets; managing accounts; taking initiatives for the use of information technology in media; keeping records of newspapers, online media, radio, television and cable distributers; and creating archives of news among others.
