Kathmandu, March 14
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today consulted four top leaders of the party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Jhalanath Khanal on government’s decision to ban the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.
The PM consulted party leaders after Nepal and some other leaders criticised the government for taking a decision to outlaw the Chand-led group without consulting them. Khanal told THT all the leaders told the prime minister that the government’s decision to ban the Chand-group was a right move.
Prime Minister’s Press Adviser Kundan Aryal said the PM consulted the top leaders on issues of proscription of the Chand-led group and future strategies.
“The media’s hue and cry over the alleged non-consultation with party leaders was unnecessary because the PM, who has the mandate from the party to govern, acts as per the overall guidelines issued by the party and the party’s manifesto,” he added.
Aryal also said ban on the Chand-led group was necessary to give the message to the public that the government would leave no stone unturned to maintain law and order.
