Prime Minister Oli visiting Butwal today

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is visiting Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City today to attend victory celebrations at the historical Jitgadhi in the sub-metropolis.

Also attending the function are Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Co-Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel, and Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel.

The victory celebration is being observed in memory of the day Nepali forces led by Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa defeated advancing British forces at the site some 204 years ago.

The event is taking place at the Jitgadhi (fort) located on the banks of Tinau river in ward no. 1 of the sub-metropolis. Province 5 started observing the day since last year.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli will be unveiling a full-size statue of Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa.
