‘Prime Minister Oli’s India visit will revive bilateral relations’

Visit will focus on implementation of past agreements

Pokhara, February 18

Minister for Information and Communications Sher Dhan Rai today said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s India visit would revive the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Chautari Kaski, he said the visit would focus on the implementation of past agreements and treaties rather than signing new pacts.

Rai claimed the prime minister would not ink any agreement against the welfare of the country. “A 46-member delegation would accompany the prime minister during his week long official India visit. Financial assistance for the reconstruction of infrastructures has already been sought from India,” he said.

The visit will be beneficial for both the countries and it will take the relationship between the countries to a new height, he claimed. “Soon after India visit, the prime minister will visit China.

We expect that his China visit will also be fruitful,” he said, adding, “The government of Nepal is committed to blacktopping the road linking the Kerung border entry point within two years.”

He said the government would announce the date for local elections soon after the prime minister returns from India visit.

Rai also said the government wanted the Nepali Congress and Madhes-centric forces to join the government to ensure good governance and peace.
