PM Dahal terms Nepal-China ties unshakable
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is currently on a visit to China, attended the welcome reception hosted by Ambassador of Nepal to the People's Republic of China Leela Mani Paudyal at the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing today.
While addressing the reception, the Prime Minister said that Nepal and China enjoy very warm, cordial, unshakable and broad-based bonds of ties characterised by mutual cooperation, understanding and appreciation of one another's aspiration and sensitivities, the Embassy of Nepal, Beijing stated in a press release.
PM Dahal further said that Nepal firmly upholds the one China policy and that both countries have been consistently and sincerely observing the five principles of peaceful co-existence in bilateral relations. He thanked the Government and people of China for their spontaneous, generous and genuine support extended in the aftermath of the April 2015 earthquakes.
Speaking of the role of Nepali nationals living in China, the Prime Minister said that they could help promote people-to-people contact, thereby solidifying the foundation of Nepal-China relations.
Welcoming the Prime Minister and his delegation at the Embassy, Ambassador Paudyal said that the regular exchanges of high level visits would contribute to tap tremendous opportunities to further strengthen cordial bilateral ties between Nepal and China.
Senior officials of the Government of China, friends of Nepal, members of Nepali community in China, Ambassadors as well as the representatives from SAARC member countries, former ambassadors of China to Nepal, businessmen, think tanks, academicians and media persons were among the participants who attended the function.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister arrived in Beijing from Boao. The PM and his accompanying delegation were warmly received upon their arrival at the Beijing Capital International Airport by the Ambassador and officials from the Embassy of Nepal and senior officials of the Government of China.
The PM is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at Beijing Foreign Studies University on Sunday.
