Probe committee begins investigation of 4 kids drown in ditch

RAUTAHAT: The probe committee formed by the government to investigate of 4 kids drown in a road side ditch in Rautahat district has reached the site and commenced its investigation into the case from Tuesday.

The government on Sunday had formed a three member probe committee headed by the joint secretary of Division of Peace and Security under Home Ministry, Deepak Kafle, Eastern Road Division Chief Mukti Gautam and DIG Puspa Ranjit as its members.

Four kids were drowned in a road side ditch in Garuda Municipality-4 in Rautahat district on Saturday.

The team conducted a field research and visited the bereaved family members in the district today.

Kafle said the team would submit a field report to the government and urged the locals to restraint as the report would be transparent and said such incidents should never happen in the future.

"We will take everyone opinion and submit the report to the government accordingly," shared Kafle.

Similarly, National Human Rights Commission regional office Janakpur head Prem Singh also visited the site and said the government should guarantee the right to live to every citizen after visiting the victims families.

"It was a sheer negligence from the contractor and government side and unfortunate," Singh lamented.

He further said that such incidents should never occur in the future and urged the government to provide compensation to the bereaved families.
