Probe committee starts investigation on Nirmala murder case

BHIMDATTANAGAR: A high-level probe committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs to carry out the investigation into the murder of Nirmala Pant, a 13-year-old girl of Bhimdatta Municipality-2 of Kanchanpur district, has started its work today.

The team arrived here today and began the preliminary investigation into the case, said committee coordinator and Joint-Secretary at the Home Ministry, Hari Prasad Mainali.

Talking to mediapersons at Kanchanpur District Administration Office, coordinator Mainali said that they would bring out the facts at any cost, adding that locals should help create a peaceful environment for the same.

The government has given responsibility to the probe committee to submit a report, comprising detailed facts by carrying out a meticulous investigation into the case. The losses caused during the demonstration, weakness of the local administration and measures of improvement would be studied by the team.

Meanwhile, the life in Kanchanpur district that remained tense due to the clash between the agitating people and security personnel has gradually turned normal from today after dispatch of the new Chief District Officer and Police Chief. The new appointments came in the wake of demand made by the agitating side relating to the incident.

Issuing a press release on Friday, Mayor of Bhimdatta Municipality welcomed the probe team and urged the locals and agitating side to cooperate with the team in the investigation.
