BHOJPUR: Property worth around Rs 500,000 were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a house at Pauwadungma Rural Municipality-3 of Bhojpur district on Sunday night.

The fire started at 11:00 pm yesterday at the house belonging to local Kumar Shrestha and gutted food, clothes and money housed inside, informed police.

According to police, the fire might have been caused by Shrestha himself while inebriated.

Police with the help of locals doused the fire after an hour's effort, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Keshav Kumar Thebe.

Meanwhile, Tiwaribhanjyang Area Police Office has detained Shrestha for further investigation, Bhojpur District Police Office said.
