BHOJPUR: Property worth around Rs 600,000 were destroyed in a fire that gutted a house in Shadanand Municipality-4 of Bhojpur district on Saturday.

According to police, the house belonging to Yagraj Rai caught fire after the gas geyser leaked in Dinla Bazaar-Mill Tol road section.

The fire then spread and gutted the house along with the storage room of his hardware shop and beauty parlour belonging to Lakshmi Rai, both housed in the same building, police informed.

The fire destroyed property worth around Rs 500,000 belonging to Yagraj and property worth around Rs 60,000 belonging to Lakshmi, according to Police Inspector Amatlal Majhi at the Dinla-based Area Police Office.

Police with the help of locals doused the fire.
