RAJBIRAJ: Porperty worth around Rs one million were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality-1 of Saptari district on Wednesday.

The fire that started from an oil lamp at the house of local Wokil Mishra, destroyed four houses in the locality including his house and cowshed, according to locals.

According to the Chhinnamasta-based Area police office, the fire gutted food grain, clothes, utensils and cash inside the houses.

Two cattle heads were also injured in the incident, added the fire victims.

Police personnel and locals doused the fire with the help of a fire engine from Rajbiraj.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
